Prada Sport Linea Rossa PS54IS Review

Prada Sport (Linea Rossa) PS54IS Sunglasses

My brother has a pair of metal framed glasses that have lasted for a decade. They don’t have overly large lenses, and they were not particularly expensive when he bought them, but they have had the staying power of more years than I thought possible.

Prada Brings The Staying Power– I hope!

The Prada Sport (Linea Rossa) PS54IS Sunglasses are similar to the glasses he has had around for years. The lenses are a little large on the Prada’s, but the difference is hardly noticeable. At around $150, that’s not a bad price to pay for glasses that could last a decade.

Keeping It Demure

These Prada glasses come in 9 different color combinations and all are pretty muted. These are not the glasses to get crazy colors or out there lens choices. They’re understated and look fairly professional.

Sorry Ladies

The 65 mm size is pretty large, and I’m fairly certain they’re significantly larger than the ones my brother had. It also makes them distinctly for men. While I know that some sunglasses come in men’s and women’s styles, there is a lot of overlap if you’re not looking for something that is particularly feminine. In this case however, there is no overlap at all. These are clearly men’s glasses.

Warranted For Warranty

They come with a one year warranty, and I like that in sunglasses. One thing that makes me most uncomfortable about putting real money into glasses is ensuring the company backs them up if you have a problem with them, so that issue has been dispelled for me with these.

Skip The Peel

These unfortunately, may not have the durability my brother’s glasses do largely down to the lenses and their staying power. There are people who have reported they peel after a certain amount of time, and it’s not long enough to justify a purchase of almost $200.

The polycarbonate lenses scratch when under any strain, and they can become un-wearable pretty quickly especially if you where these often. That being said, this is a common problem with most sunglasses that have polycarbonate lenses.

Not Polarized Prada?

Even though I’m not a fan of polarized lenses, I feel you should be getting quality polarized lenses for the price. At over $150, these are not in the price range of glasses you buy as a second pair. If they don’t have all of the bells and whistles that other sunglasses in their price range have, it might be a problem for some of you. However, I should remember we are talking Prada here!

Maybe Not Forever Glasses, But Still Great Glasses

While the Prada Sport (Linea Rossa) PS54IS Sunglasses look somewhat like the ones that have kept my brother in good coverage for so long, the reports about their flaws make them seem otherwise. That being said, they are not overwhelmingly expensive, and if you’re looking for metal framed, lightweight glasses without distracting additions to the arms or frames, these might just fit the bill.
